In these four conferences, Dr. White joyously undertakes to explain one of the most celebrated works of one of his favorite authors. In particular, he discusses both Dickens' masterful character descriptions and his uncanny ability to portray the foibles of human nature (such as, for instance, young love). Though, as Dr. White observes, there is much more that could be said about this masterpiece, these short lectures serve as an excellent introduction to it and instruct us how best to draw forth the many lessons it contains.
